Blog Directories

So I've been searching around about submitting my blog to different directories and everything. It seems like every place I look, every article lists different directories to use. I've submitted them to a couple, blogcatalog and spicypage, but I was wondering which ones are the best to use. Which ones do you personally use and find the most effective.

Also I think I've finally written two pretty decent articles and have been looking around for places to submit them to. Any suggestions for a beginning blogger?

I haven't ever though of specifically submitting to blog directories but i thought of starting one using one of my domains "blogsunion.com" , most web directories now include a Blog category where you can submit your blog !

I'd check out that list. It gives you the strongest ones I could find and their price if there is any.

Yeah I've checked out all the lists. I guess I worded it wrong. I was wondering what directories people were personally using and what success, if any, they had with them?

BlogCatalog is what I use and like. I'm on other ones but they're kinda confusing for me...

The value of being listed in a blog directory or any directory for that matter lies in the relevance and association from a trusted site. If a directory is a good one it only list quality resources of similar topics in its categories. Getting a listing in a good directory gives further confirmation to the engines that you aren't spam and are indeed a quality resource. After all; directories are built to categorize relevant information and make it easy for the surfer to find sources. Sadly many directories don't exert editorial integrity and some don't even have human editors. As a result the whole concept of looking through a category for interesting blogs on a topic has lost much momentum.
