I am sure this has been posted somewhere before, but couldn't locate it, In the past week, I have gone to comment on several blogs, that I enjoy, but I don't use blogspot and can't comment, I have gone the email route, letting them know this.. they all were like..wow..really - I was surprised.. so I just thought I would put this out there, and remind some of the newer bloggers not to cheat themselves out of comments If you don't want your comments open, please take no offense to this! |

I agree, allow OpenID and Anonymous people to comment on your blog. Why have a blog when comments are closed? I just don't get that.

There are some really interesting one's that I have found, only to try and leave a comment..type it all out and realize you can't post.

I think they do it because they don't want Spammers just leaving comments with the persons link on it. You can leave as many comments on my blog as you want. Even though I use Blogspot

A lot of blogspot blogs do tend to get bombarded with spam comments mind you the same could be said of wordpress hosted blogs i suppose. I cannot remember what the default setting is for comments on blogspot off the top of my head that might also explain it if the default setting is no comments allowed. |

Spamming is a problem no matter where you are on the internet. Allowing anyone to comment allows just that, anyone. Opening your comments will allow that first time reader/visitor to comment without having to register. Most first time readers/visitors aren't going to register and this will most likely cause them to never return. If you are worried about spam than just check your comments regularly. Delete the ones that are spam and reward the posters that actually post relevant comments. |

There was a problem on Blogger for a while where you needed a blogspot account to comment, but that is solved now, since a while, no? I can see on my blog that you can comment as anonymous, or put your own name/url in, without a blogspot account... Peter |

i use intense debate commenting service for my blogspot blog. I also edited the no-follow attribute and made it do-follow. While my other two wordpress blogs, I use do follow plugin and top commentator to allow people especially bloggers to leave non spamming comments thus giving them a link from my blog.
