Whats the average traffic for a new blog?

I don't think you should concern about comparing to other blogs, because every blog and every blogger is different. Set the goals that you, personally, would like to meet; work towards those goals;

I personally think you should set your own goals and goals that are also comparing to competitors. I have just started a new blog and obviously need to attract traffic, so I have set a few small simple goals to reach, eg: To get a few loyal viewers that come back to the blog every day.

You must to be ready to twig with it for at minimum of a year deprived of any consequences. If you can't fix that, you perhaps won’t sort it.

It is thought-provoking to understand the changes in the kinds of web based blogs. Mine is merely a pair of weeks old and I'm opening to get a tiny traffic from good search engines.

First two months when my blog started, i get like 30 visitors a day. 5 months after that, I'm getting 100 over visitors a day (still less than 200). One thing bad about my blog is, traffic seems to be not so good on weekends. Anyone have this issue?

I agree with the other posters that it is hard to tell what kind of traffic you will get. Using myself as an example, I used to think getting more than 5 visitors was great! It took a long time before I thought getting 15 visitors was great. Now I think over 100 visitors is great. But a LOT of time had to go by before then.

I found at the beginning of my blogging that commenting on other, similar blogs was so fun. Often, these people would reciprocate and comment on MY blog. That would really make my day.

So anyway, don't be discouraged because you don't get a lot of traffic right away. Give yourself 6 months or a year and you will probably be getting a lot more traffic.
