Whats the average traffic for a new blog?

You need to be prepared to stick with it for at least a year without any results. If you can't do that, you probably wont make it.

Honestly, for some, traffic hardly comes at all the first few months. If you have unique content and a good design though - you'll be able to start getting anywhere from 10-100 visitors your first couple months. After that - you'll slowly start building links and a following, and then - just focus on your writing.

Once you have a small base, they'll spread the word for you naturally - while you just focus on producing a wicked awesome site.

There are many variables, but if you have good content and work hard - there's no limit to the number you can receive.

It is interesting to see the differences in the types of blogs. Mine is only a couple of weeks old and I'm starting to get a little traffic from search engines. I have definitely focused a lot on site promotion as first people have to find the blog. Over time there will be many more pages indexed and will be easier for search engines to find it as well.

At the end of my first month I was receiving about 20 visits per day. It then stayed like that for a month or two. Then it went to 20-40. Now its somewhere around 50-100. As you can see it grows up at a slow rate.

An important thing also to note is that as time goes by your blog slowly grows exponentially. This means it will grow faster and faster slowly over time at a larger rate each time.

My new blog is just over a week old with only maybe one or two visitors total as well. One of them was my mom

Well, I have good news to report

My weight loss blog is almost two weeks old and I am up mto about 75 visitors per day

My blog is a niche.

It gets anything from 50-100 visitors a day and sometimes a few over. it hardly ever gets any comments. I blog for fun, not for adsense etc and I'd rather my blog was visited by people who are interested in the subject, than just had traffic for the sake of it. It's only recently started to get a decent number of hits (decent enough for me anyway!).
