Default Twitter or Plurk?

I've got to ask the question. I know they are a sort of mini blog, update it by the hour, tell everyone what you're doing type apps and as I've never got into either, which is the best, and why do you think that?

Thumbs up Re: Twitter or Plurk?

If you are unsure about services like Twitter, let me just say those that know it and use them often rarely post inane messages about what they are doing or just ate.

Now, Twitter or Plurk? Hmmm... Twitter has a massive number of users and a huge number or applications that work well with Twitter. Plurk has quite a few users but nothing like Twitter has and I don't know of any third party apps for Plurk.

So the answer is sign up to Twitter. However a service that does not get nearly enough attention and is as good as - if not better than - Twitter, but with significantly less third party apps, is Rejaw.

The big difference is that with Rejaw, that any message sent to it can be the start of a discussion in a thread of its own. I definitely recommend it.

Here's me:
Rejaw: Rejaw: Ian won his Poker Tournament at The Whale!

Way more people on twitter then plurk. Seriously I'd go on both but focus on one... Which one... I'm biased but I'd say Plurk. Then again I'm also the guy behind Plurkable - All Things Plurk ; at the ver least make an account at each.

I use both, but Twitter much more often than Plurk - and I use them in slightly different ways that are hard to define. There is some overlap in who uses which one, but I get the sense that it's a little younger and lighter on Plurk, more business use and serious networking at Twitter. But of course, all that depends on who you hang out with (follow and/or friend) on each service. If you plan on dipping in a toe - best way is probably to pick the one where you know the most people who might have something to say that you might want to hear!

That's a great way of stating it. I'd still sign up for both though Phil.

Default Re: Twitter or Plurk?

I use twitter to broadcast things; I also use plurk to broadcast things.

I use plurk to kill time and have a bit of fun here and there. It's just way friendlier to conversations. I'm not a big fan of twitter it's too serious and I am following 1500 people but whenever I click on without fail it's the same people talking lol.

I have an account with Twitter and Plurk but I don't use the Plurk account. I do not find it user friendly. I love Twitter and have been using it more and more.

Hmm.. Strange.. IMHO, I think Plurk is user-friendlier than Twitter - although I accept it's a bit complex to get the hang of everything in a relatively short period of time.

However, I have found a way to keep both Twitter and Plurk functional.

Twitter is easier to use immediately I think because its' so basic. Plurk can be a bit overwhelming. A really great walk through on the opening page would be great I think.

Ironically; once you learn plurk it's really easy and facilitates conversation / relationship building much more.
