I go for Google as well but since I'm self-hosted WordPress I also use the plugin WP-Stats as well as TanTan Reports for checking analytics and FeedBurner stats. And for the heck of it, I'll also check Awstats with my hosting plan that I like because it provides a variety of information the other sources don't give.

Yeah, I use my cpanel tool awstats to check my stats. But, I might try the wp-stats because it is built right in. Wordpress all the way!

Google Analytics is the best in my opinion, but Sitemeter usually show more traffic the GA, so use that

I've tried various services, and I would say that Google Analytics is the best for keeping track of many visitors. It has a max of I think 3 million a month. The only downside is that it updates your dashboard only once a day.

Other services such as StatCounter and and SiteMeter are better for real time data but they don't keep track of as many visits.

That is why I use several services.

Seriously I think checking stats TOO Much is something that most of us are guilty of. I check them twice a day now and every other time I *WOULD* of checked them I post on a forum or comment on a blog.

It works and each time you check your stats you're MORE pleasantly surprised!

I use Analytics and even if I wanted to check it all the time, it is updated only once a day.
That saves my time as well.

how much traffic do you guys usually get and what kind of blog is it related to?

i tried the whole counter thing and got hardly any traffic (mind you it was little while after i had just started). it just made feel a bit awkward to be writing and knowing that no one will read it
