Exclamation Questions about domain

I was just wondering some stuff about Domain and needed some answers

1 - Does just getting a domain on Wordpress.COM a good idea or not? (It is $10-$15 a year which is 60-80 EGP a year for me)

2 -
Quote:
It costs $10/year for the domain name. It costs $10/year for domain mapping. If you buy both at the same time the total cost is $15/year.
What is the difference between both? (sorry if that is a stupid question)

3 - Is there any other big Domain-Blog Hosting site cheaper than Wordpress.ORG, It says here that you have to pay $7 month (I'm not really up to paying that, I'm a student that has no job, seriously)

Default Re: Questions about domain

1. Wordpress.org is the best way to go "when you can", but better sooner than later. There are good blogs on wordpress.com's service, don't get me wrong.

2. I am not real sure what domain mapping is. I know .com's cost about $10.
3. Wordpress.org is a blogging system, not hosting. If you want hosting you might want to check out Hostgator, but yes it will cost you at least $7 per month, usually paid by year.

Stay with wordpress.com until you have enough for hosting, since wordpress.org is free, all you need is hosting cost. I suggest hostgator because you have just about unlimited everything for cheap, even cheaper if you have a coupon code.

Good luck!

Wordpress might be the easiest...

But if you really want to have your own domain, I would suggest to take a (paid, but cheap) hosting, so you can manage your entire domain!

In this case, you need to find and install your own blog script, keep it up-to-date, ... a little more work, but the most powerful solution.

I would also recommend getting your own domain right from the start. It gives you so many more options and is actually pretty cheap. Hosts like Lunarpages and Hostgator have packages starting in the $7 / month range and come with 1 click wordpress installs via fantastico which makes it really easy even if you are a complete beginner.

Place a couple tasteful ads or affiliate banners on your blog and once you get some traffic coming in, you should be able to easily cover your hosting fees.
