Default dont oversell the space of your blog

well just recently i have made a post about ad spots that i feel you shouldn't sell or put some affiliate links.

But well the tip here is dont try to oversell your spaces and it may not help you establish a good user experience.. Me i just prefer to sell the conventional 125X125 ads and so... what do you think?

I also think you shouldn't put too many ads, like John Chow. It just distracts the user from the content. And plus, most real "authority" sites don't have many ads. Not only selling less ads means you can charge a premium for that ad space but your blog also looks more professional.

By the way, I really like your blog and it's design, Melvin. Very neat

I totally agree. I hate blogs that are more ads than posts!

I prefer sites/blogs where ads are grouped (in the sidebar for example) so that people who are not interested can ignore them.
Ads inline with the text is also a no go, except for some occasional small adds, as long as they don't interfere with the content (clearly separated)

How many is too many?

I wouldn't say mine are too full of ads but if someone was willing to pay me to add another I don't think I would turn it down.

I think less is more as far as ads on a blog go. You want to focus good content to attract visitors and in my opinion, too many ads takes away from your content. I have 3 side by side 125x125 banners at the top of my sidebars. They pay out $65, $30, and $28 and are for products I actually use, recommend and blog about from time to time. So far this strategy has served me well.
