Question How Long Should You Hold a Great Blog Post Before Posting?

Basically How Long Should You Hold a Great Blog Post Before Posting?

You know when you write something that's somewhat meaningful and you're taking somewhat of a stance. How long do you like to hold it to finally decide what's in the post is what you want to share with the world; permanently?

I think it's best if you can at least sleep on it. That way you've had a chance to change mood or perspective and give a good review of what you've written.

Thoughts?

yeah, hold it for a day or two and make sure you were "sane" while writing it. Maybe do some more research to make sure facts are set, wait for the right moment and BAM! let it rip.

Yeah, I would sleep on it, but i think it depends more on when your last post was made. If you need to post something to keep from losing readers, then don't wait too long imo.

It also depends on whether the issue will be forgotten soon, or whether it's an immortal topic that will keep for a week.

I have a few half-posts saved up that I'm trying to get absolutely right before publishing them, because they could potentially be controversial later on. They're more technical and not just 'this is what I've learnt recently' sort of posts.

Most all my posts are scheduled in advance, so in one sense you could say that I sleep on them. If I realize that I said something asinine, I still have time to go back and change it before the post goes live.

It's rare, though, for me to not schedule a post as soon as I've finished writing it.

I'm neither a daily blogger nor scheduler one, so it takes quite sometime till I write something because it's all about rendering a prespective

So far I'm just trying to get it done by the end of the day, but I usually have 1 blog that is going to be posted the next day, so I sometimes get the time to sleep on it (Especially since i'm forcing myself not to post more than 1 a day, and especially NOT Less)...

....never? You should never hold back great content. It's counter productive. Post it (provided it's grammatically correct) and then promote it to bring in loyal readers.

But if it's a controversial topic you've got to make sure you covered your bases.

Write a post on Day 1. Go to sleep.

Review that post again on Day 2. Analyze post several times.

Happy with it? Publish it.

Fail to satisfy with it? Sacrifice it to God.

I only post once within 2 days.
