good blog topics

ok so i've already started a blog about my favorite hockey team. i'm new to blogging (this is my first one). this blog is basically so i can learn the basics and kinda figure stuff out like whats works what doesnt, stuff liek that. my only problem is that i'm not getting very hits. the blog is about a week old and at last check i've had 26 unique hits. i think the problem is my niche isnt something that is intensly popular, at least as far a the blogging world is concerned.

what are some other topics/niches that i could write about that would give me more traffic and that more people are interested in? and while im at it what are some other tips to running a good blog and atracting people and keeping them coming back? also i am currently hosted on blogspot. does the host matter or anything like that. if so what are some other good hosts?

any tips/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Actually, I think the problem is that your blog is only a week old. It takes time (and a certain number of posts in a blog's archives) to start to get search engine attention and to bring traffic.

I agree w/ rjleaman. You just haven't given it enough time. Just keep posting good content on a regular basis and the traffic will come.

As far as what topics to right about, I think the best advice is to stick with something that you are interested in and like to write about instead of trying to pick a hot topic that may bring in more readers. Running a successful blog takes a lot of time and effort and it will be much more enjoyable if your writing about and something you genuinely enjoy.

1 week? It takes months. If you're insanely impatient and lazy like me just buy one from someone. That way everything is already established. If you're starting from scratch will take some time. Hence everyone says blog about something you love... If not you may quit before engines etc etc pick you up. Also if you're blogging about something COMPETITIVE... It's even harder to get traffic.
