Pinging Help! grrr

I been using pingshot in feedburner to automatically ping services of my new posts. But I'm not so sure it's working out well.

Technorati hasn't been pinged in like 40 days. Even tried pinging them directly on the site. What's the deal? They have my first two articles. That's it.

I did a google blog search for one of my articles - Not there. Only the digg post of the article.

icerocket...I'm not even listed there. I tried finding my blog with no luck.

That's all I checked so far. I'm guessing i'm not listed on the other sites I been pinging either in pingshot. Can someone fill me in on pinging?? What services should I ping? Should I use the ping option in my wordpress instead? Fill me in on what all I should do please. This is something I haven't done enough research on I guess.

Well pinging directly through technorati should've at least updated what they had, but it doesn't always happen immediately, so try checking back today to see if it's updated.

As for the rest of the questions, is there a reason you don't have the ping option turned on in wordpress? It'll automatically do it for you and if feedburner doesn't seem to be doing it, then it's worth a shot.

And I didn't know what icerocket even was until I looked it up. Have you submitted your blog to their directory? There's an option on the lower right hand corner of the page.

I've pinged technorati directly on their site, everyday, for the past 4 days. It does not update.

You might be right about icerocket. And that could be the issue with some of the other places I been pinging. Doh!

I'm looking for the best list of places to ping, so I can them in wordpress, instead of using pingshot. Good list anywhere?

Technorati has its own updating issues...

But I do remember seeing a list of ping urls on Wordpress.org - try a little search there and see what turns up. Also, you might try pingomatic (since pingoat seems to have disappeared) for a ping on the main big players. Worry about the important few, and it seems the others will pick up from them.
