Random server crashes aside (I don't know why BH hates me...haha) I get a lot of good feedback on my posts (the ones that usually end up getting assimilated...) and my design, but my promotion is apparently lacking. I think Diligent Design with time (and frequent back-ups...) could be a really good blog, but I'm just not sure how to really go about promoting it... Considering that I spend lots of time explaining to other people techniques to grow their personal brand, it's kind of ironic that my pageviews are pretty low. What are some ideas to grab some commenters and subscribers if you're pretty sure your content is solid but it's just not happening? (edit: sorry about the parenthesis. I have an addiction...) |

Start guest posting on larger blogs in your niche. Your blog is your portfolio so if it's solid they should have no problem. Also who doesn't like great free content? It's a great collaboration that gives them something to publish and you hopefully some more eyeballs that stick. Best of luck,

I really like the Diligent Design blog a whole lot - in fact, I've just subscribed. But here's the thing: I got to it through the 'Recent Blog' link up beside your name here, and so landed on a single-post page (the way someone coming from a search engine would do) - and apart from the categories links, there's nothing that's actively working to entice me deeper into the site. My suggestion - think about showing 'Related Posts' or 'Featured Posts' or something, either in the sidebar or at the end of each post? p.s. Seems to be a glitch with your autodiscover thingummie - clicking the subscribe button in FF location bar gives me feedburner error... I was able to jump through a few hoops and finally get signed up, but many won't bother. Thinking this is something you might want to look into ASAP. ![]() p.p.s There's not a lot to read on your blog right now, as you know (check Google search for cached pages from before your server crash, to try to get old posts back? backup all work in future? ) but when you've got more to show, drop me a note if you'd like to pitch a creativity/productivity idea for a guest post on DomestikGoddess.com -- I like how you think & write.

As far as not being enticed to dig deeper, I think that yes, I probably do need to work on that. I'm working on a screencast and a couple of interviews lined up. I'll definitely try to get a related/featured posts thing going. I have to clean up the sidebar a little anyways...It'll be easier to build inter-links once I have more content up, but thanks a lot for the suggestions! I'd be happy to throw you a productivity post in a couple of weeks, haha. Thanks for the subscribe and the feedback! |
