Forum marketing is a great way to build traffic, along with directories, article marketing, free press releases, blog commenting and the like. It takes time to build up traffic to a blog, especially if it is in a competitive niche. I personally get most of my traffic from SERPs, although I do see some from forums and the other methods. But I have also worked hard on keywords, SEO, and the long-tail. |

You could consider submitting your site to blog directories. It may not do much but it may bring a few more users.

All the advices here are great. I've especially enjoyed Ozan's post mentioned earlier in this topic. Also as Ozan raised the question, the best way to attract traffic depends on each bloggers's objective and the strategy which suits the best. All these techniques require dedication to blogging, and that naturally filters out the sploggers who are just making waves in the blogosphere. At least I hope so. Not that much as blogging itself, but some widgets might help too in adding extra-traffic. This thread discusses some of them. |
