Default Domain Name & PR

I hope that I explain this correctly.

My blog is called Brain Foggles but it is not on it's own domain. I do own the domain Brain Foggles tho. Here's my question - If I were to host that domain and send traffic to my blog will that affect my PR?

I do want to move my blog in the future but with the work I do I can't now.

Thanks for your help.

Connie

I would say to just start blogging on the new domain now, leave the old posts on the old domain until you can get around to it. You might as well start building PR to the new domain now.

The PR will stick with the domain that the blog is at now and not transfer to the new domain. Remember that PR is only realted to 1 page.

I agree with Skolor start on the new domain as soon as and start building links to that domain rather than the free hosted one.

You definitely want to switch it over now. Waiting and switching it over later will only hurt you in the long run. Like Caffine said, start building the backlinks and such now. I recently made the switch and have had a little hit in pagerank, but my traffic has stuck because I decided to redirect them over to the new page. The pagerank will eventually build itself back up.

Thanks for the replies.

If I start blogging on the new domain what do I do about the name of my blog? Can I have two blogs with the same name?

Since I can't move my blog yet (I have work that I haven't been paid for yet on my current blog) I'd be starting my blog on the new domain but not moving it entirely. Does that even make sense? I hope so.

Yeah, sure. Names get re-used all the time.

You can leave it the same or if you want make 1 slight variation. Everyone is right though sooner you start building a foundation on your final resting spot the better.

That being said PR isn't that hard to achieve until you pass say ~4. Do a little bit of link building and just continue being the active person you are on forums / social media and you'll have your new place with PR in no time.

Next PR update has been rumoured to be around the end of this month but it is always a guess as google will do when they want.
