Hi folks - hope you can help me on this one.
I run a blog called A New Band A Day, which is just a hobby of mine, really. I post about a new band every day - duh- but can't always be online every day for various reasons. I use Blogger's tool that allows you to schedule posts to be posted at regular intervals. Thus, because of my sometime absence from the internet, pinging Technorati, feedburner etc is impossible some days. I'd to be able to use a service that would ping all the appropriate sources automatically. I thought I'd found it in AutoPinger but it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone have any idea how i might be able to do this? Apparently Blogger can be set to ping service when a post is published, but I don't seem to be able to make it work! Help! Thanks in advance, Joe |

I don't know how to make blogger do it automatically, but Pingoat and Ping-o-Matic! can ping multiple sites at once.

I think that if you switch to Wordpress.org for blogging you will have better luck and a better overall experience. A lot of things are automated with WP rather than blogger. Just my opinion.

Thanks for your replies -
I use pingomatic at the moment, but it requires me being online after each post is posted. I wondered if there was an online facility that would automatically ping for me when posts were posted? Or a bit of script or something to put in my blog that would do this? Thanks for the Wordpress suggestion - however, I don't feel competant enough with the intricacies of wordpress to migrate there yet. I don't find it particularly user-friendly. Might do so in the future, but I want simplicity at the moment. Thanks again! Joe - A New Band A Day Last edited by joespro : 06-05-2008 at 05:41 AM. Reason: spelling mistakes! |

Hmm .. wordpress isn't really all that hard
One thing you can do if you have the time is, just set up an account at wordpress.com and have a play with it. The user interface is the same as the stand-alone wordpress software. Then if you need help to set it up, just drop a line on the forum. I sure there are people (me included) who would be happy to give you a hand OWen

People can help you with wordpress. If you are serious about blogging anything, it's easier to migrate sooner. Just my thoughts. Good luck with whatever you choose.

If you use Feedburner for your RSS, then it automatically pings most services after each post is published.

As far as I know, Feedburner can do it automatically..
