It depends what blogging platform you're using - some platforms have an option to set the post status as 'private' or password protected. I think with Blogger you have to set permissions for the whole blog, not individual posts, but this may have changed since I used it; WordPress lets you put a password on certain posts; and Majestic CMS lets you set different areas of your site to have certain user permissions... and so on. What platform do you use for your blog?

Wordpress also allows you to save blog posts, but set them to 'unpublished'. Wordpress rocks.

If you're wanting to do what I think you are, post it, and then set the date to nothing. Just delete the value from the "Posted at" box. It breaks the system a little bit, forces it to be the earliest entry, and gives it an arbitrary date of 1997 (I think). It will still be there, and you can link to it just fine, it just won't show up anywhere.

Yeah, those are some good examples of how to do it, but it really depends on what you're looking to do with the post and what platform you use.

Think that setting it as Private in WP should do the trick

Or if you are setting up for a members type area then simple add wordpress to your root domain and then set up another one in a subdomain and set to private/password protect. Thus you have a collector domain and a director domain for your members etc etc

I have an addon which doesn't "hide" your post but it does only show certain categories on your default page. Is that what you want?
