Default Monitoring Your Blogs Traffic Statistics

Bloggeries uses awstats which is built in in cpanel and StatCounter to monitor our traffic statistic. I think monitoring your blog's traffic statistics is important because if you don't know where your traffic is coming from and where it is going on your blog and even where it is leaving in particular you will not know what you are doing right so you can increase it or wrong so you can look into it. If some areas of your site are getting a lot more traffic maybe you should increase posting on that topic; some areas are getting less traffic try and see why and what can be done if anything. Some important stats I check are uniques, page views, recent keyword activity, recent came from (referrer) <-- This is a big one.

I don't mind AW-STATS that comes in cpanel because it's conveniently close to the back up button so whenever you backup take a quick glance, I just look at it for the month to month difference really. Statcounter is much more reliable imo.

I really like using StatCounter. It has so many features that you'll just have to make an account yourself and look into it for the full list but a few include uniques, page views, recent keyword activity, keyword analysis, referrer stats such as came from, visitor length, visitor paths, entry pages, exit pages etc... You can really get a great idea about your traffic using this tool and I highly recommend it to anyone.

What I'm curious about now is what programs have you used on your blogs and what did you like or dislike about them?

Somehow my webhost's awstat get fried whenever I use wordpress. I think it has something to do with htaccess with my wordpress script and awstats don't appear when I key in the URL.

Anyway, I use Analytics.

My friends use statcounter too in their blogs. I think it's really helpful in monitoring your traffic. In that way, you'll know if your posts are really interesting.

Default Track Referer and Keyword Activity Stats

Exactly and you will also know alot more alot quickier as it's updated in almost real time where as aw stats for instance updates daily unless it's just me. Really let's you know what keyword's are working and which aren't as well as which sites are actually referring actual visitors.

Sitemeter, Google Analytics, Feedburner Stats (mainly for my feed stats), Wordpress Blog Stats (you need a Wordpress.com account and the plugin to link your Wordpress blog to this) and Reinvigourate with the real time Snoop program.

Mainly I use both Sitemeter and the Wordpress Blog Stats to check my most read posts, hits and referrals.

Snoop is really good but it's in beta now and it keeps disconnecting from the Reinvigourate website so I can't always get real time updates on my stats.

I've heard alot about sitemeter and see it often in my referrer stats. Have you tried statcounter? If so care to make a comparison between the two?

Thanks,
Rob

Stats counter is good for a quick look at the stats (and the proud display !).

However, I find Google Statistic really helpful to see where the traffic is from, the most popular pages etc. It really helps me.

Which gives more detail? Google Analytics or statcounter?

Definitely Google analytics... they are also more accurate in my opinion. I used to have both and I thought the Statscounters ones were a bit weird.

Weird how? I notice stat counter to be alot lower in terms of referall and overall page views / uniques compared to aw-stats for instance.

How is it weird with you?
