Some questions about links

I linked my blog to various articles on a Norwegian newspaper.
The newspaper claims that the links are nofollow links. But still my blog has experienced a boost in the search engine rankings. Especially for terms that I have blogged about and linked to my blog.

The best example is this article here Siv Jensen is a chicken | Rmtexposed

When you did a search for Siv Jensen my blog was on the first page of the search results.

How come this is happening. I thought nofollow links had no effect at all.

they are in Google but not in Yahoo. No-follow plays big effect on Yahoo backlinks but not in Google. It always show in backlink checkers so it affects as well goes in your site's traffic

Also, you might be more strongly associated with the target keywords, which will help yor ranking.
