aha. I figured it out. With blogger, you can't use the 'compose' (WYSIWYG) editor during posting, or it won't include your line breaks even if you manually insert them into the HTML in the HTML editor. If the entire blog isn't written in HTML editor, your line breaks won't work. Pretty crappy. note to self: get better job to afford change to wordpress.

I've found some formatting errors if i type in another program and copy them over to my blog. The only solution i have is to do all the typing in the blog, and not somewhere convenient with a half-decent spell checker.

yeah, I only EVER do my posts on my blog. I know enough that formatting can change. that's why I was confused. Even if you do your posts IN blogger...unless you use HTML and not the 'compose' feature..your formatting is going to be ruined. I'm glad I figured it out though, it was driving me nuts. and thanks for the help!

For text that is already formatted like in Word for example and I want to strip it off before adding it to my blog I run it through notepad. That way the pasted text will be the same as my blogs standard formating is. You can try <br /> for a line break too by the way. |

Running it through Notepad is one of the most useful things you can do when bringing text from one program to another (to/from e-mail, blogs, etc.). It takes out the program-specific formatting. It can definitely help a lot if you've got text that needs to be plain (no tables, etc.). Glad you figured it out! |

Darn it, now I'm having the same problem in a new blog on WP3 and <br /> is not working. If anyone has an alternative please let me know. |
