Default What Are The Challenges of Having More Than One Blog?

Are there any significant challenges in having more than one blog? How difficult is it to maintain quality?

Very hard to maintain quality, but it depends on the niche.

At least, that's the way it is for me

I could imagine that. The temption of having two or three good ones and monetizing them is really great.

Everything is tempting when it comes to money, but focus on content and building traffic because when it comes down to it, you can monetize your blog all you want, but if people don't stick around then it's worthless.

But having more than one blog is very time consuming... unless of course you hire ghostwriters then all you have to do is focus on marketing...

My problem is I love to create blogs, and I have great ideas for them, but I find it hard to find time for all of them. I have told myself a need to just sell a couple domains and/or blogs, but I can't pick which ones to part with!

For me, the money is secondary. I make a lot more with my off-line business. I just really like the community, and being able to share my ideas. When I get a comment or two I am just thrilled!

Balancing traffic for both blogs. Since I started Hyper Tech Ninja, balancing traffic for Pariah's Guild has been hard.

I could not imagine having more than one blog, too hard to write that much.

I started three blogs, but over time one became my main focus and the others became less important to me. You can see in the archives that NDF gets three posts a week, but poor old Corollax barely gets 4 per month. It's hard to maintain mommentum on multiple blogs at one.

Perhaps you need to consider why you are blogging? If you're in it for the money, then I would encourage you to keep the number of blogs you own to a minimum, unless you have all the time in the world to read, research and write. Most of us don't as we do have day jobs too.

However, if you're blogging simply because you enjoy writing (as I do) then I don't think it matters how many you have because it also doesn't matter how often you post. I have a lot of blogs in many different themes - some of them are actually a base for building material for books later down the track, others are simply topics of interest to me and the few others who read them.
