How to get More Comments on your blog

Great advice on looking up articles on Google. I am having trouble with people posting comments on my blog. I want to get readers to post comments, but my blog is so new.....i guess readers and comments come with time...i want the comments to come sooner.
My blog is about surfing and linking the surf industry with the surfing community!!

Do follow works, but the dangers are that if you blog gets found out as Dofollow, you will be spammed to hades.

Asking questions usually leads to more comments, and replying to current comments spike discussion.

Top commenters works well, as well as thanking said commenters.

The "DoFollow" movement is basically a revolt against the NoFollow movement. Nofollow does not pass on Page Rank; dofollow does. Nothing wrong with having follow on your comments just if you advertise yourself as one you're basically trying to get members to comment strictly for pagerank purposes which does not generate good comments to say the least and if google found a list like that I'm not sure what they might do ... It is technically exploiting PR for the sake of traffic... (IMO).

Like I said nothing wrong being DOFOLLOW just don't go on all the lists as it kinda skews things imo.

So, would you say that somewhere in the middle of both would be good. Page rank is important, but only if your site can back up the rank with actual material?

i've seen that when you write a post with mistakes you will always get more comments. for example, i said once that the speed of sound is 340 km/h and well.. i received a lot of comments from people that were trying to proove smarter than me.

i think this is one of the smartest things i heard to get comments, altho there is one real real reaaaaal bad side effect... when people see you make alot of mistakes in your artiles then people wont take you seriously... wich is a damn shame if you try to build up some readers that you want to return.
