Hello, I have a site and blog that exist together. I want to split the two. I want to keep the site the same but move the blog portion of it to another domain/site. The current site/blog is relatively new but some marketing work as been done. There is less than 50 posts in the blog portion. Any thoughts from those that may have done this before would be appreciated. What is the best way to move it over and point to the new blog? Should I just keep the current posts there or move them entirely? Thank you |

You're looking for a 301 redirection to direct the post URLs on the old site to the same posts on the new site. Here's a plugin that should do what you want, although it will probably take some setup work: Redirection - Manage 301 redirections without modifying Apache | Urban Giraffe Jay |

You can also often create a subdomain or just point the new domain to the subdomain. Thats what I plan to do with the blog flipping contest, I'm going to register the name and just point it to an existing subdomain on my site.

Hmmm... The marketing you did for the blog might be wasted if you decided to separate it from the site. Especially if the blog already has a PR. You'll be starting back to zero. |
