Wordpress - people register but don't post

I have a wordpress blog.

A number of people have registered, but never post. Registration allows them to visit my dashboard, but they only have 'subscriber' status so can't do much else.

Is it normal for people to register and not post?

People don't contribute to a blog, if they are normal. :lurk-2:

If you want people to contribute, you must setup an announcement post saying that you are accepting guest blog and what benefits that they can derive from your the guest blogging experience.

yeah...that's right. even me in the first place, doesn't now if the blog accepting guest blog without any announcement. i think, by put sticky post that tell everybody they are invited to be guest blog is the most effective way

What should the settings be for that on Wordpress?

Probably bots. I had a few (hundred) register when I opened memberships, pain to remove, lol.

As for setting, all you need to do is set it so that everyone can comment. No memberships required

I had that happen in the past also.
