I will add that I find stock images to be very cheesy and corporate.

I love images when they are available but it's just another criteria to judge the blog on. So if you have good ones ad them take the time; if not don't bother. Your extra work may even cheapen the look if it's generic photos we've all been seeing since 1998.

That's why I try to stick to photos I've taken for NDF, actual art from the D&D books for Corollax, and hand-drawn things in paint for the Rant. It changes the feel of a blog depending on how you use your images.

Yes. I love images too! I won't continue reading an article unless it has got some images. Be it advertisements or just some icons. Without images everything seems dull its like reading the books. Even newspaper adds in images =D

It's funny about the image thing... on my latest post about "Never Underestimate Commenting", I put a picture of a hot chick and people commented JUST because the hot chicks grabbed their attention LOL!

I personally put an image in every post. It's more good looking and I think it's more serious...

I use images in most my posts on OpTempo. I try to go with vintage (1900-1960 era) advertising and textbook drawings to give a different feel although I'll also use more modern photos from time to time and cartoon clipart. Typically I'll modify them to fit well within the post. I get most of them from libraries of photos and drawings I have on CD/DVD (in conformance with their licensing) or from services like iClipArt.

Agreed - reading pages of words is just mind numbing. At least images break it up a lot.
