I've been trying to run a small advertising campaign with ad sence (what with being given a free £20 voucher and i was wondering if other people have any tips about how to conduct an advertising campaign? At the moment, I am targetting cheap search phrases, which the competition hasn't targeted yet. I'm also working on a small budget, and a post to send people to which gives a list of threads they might want to visit (in an article format). Has anyone else had any experiences they might want to share? |

If you are working on a small budget, I wouldn't recommend going in anything over your free voucher. These things take time, and I have heard so many horror stories of failed campaigns that have completely destroyed invested cash funding for a lot of my friends in the blogging world. Read some reviews about how to market effectively in the Google Adwords section of the DigitalPoint Forums, and go for it

I would recommend finding keywords that are related to your site somehow but are not premium ones. This will allow you to get as much traffic to your site for as little as possible. Good luck!

Your advice seems really good. I don't intend to spend more than my free voucher... for a start, I want to keep by promotion budget saved for when the site has enough content to make it worthwhile ![]() Thanks for that... at the moment I'm using longtail searches. It isn't a very compatative niche, and I'm using the keywords I researched at the beginning. |

If you're looking for a very low budget ad campaign, let me suggest Project Wonderful. They're not amazing money wise, and you can probably pull in more money advertising elsewhere, but they do a good job of letting you turn any profits you have right around to advertising. I normally get around $.02-.03 a day on a total of 6 banners I run across my site, two "half banners" at the bottom of the forum, and 4 125x125 blocks on my blogs. It usually leaves me with around $.10-.12 a day to turn into my own advertising, and you can usually get some real good deals. At one point I was getting a full banner, above the fold for the $.10 a day I was pulling in from my banner on a site with around 300-400 unique hits a day.
