Default Getting Rid Of Comment Spam

I have a couple of posts that are constantly receiving comment spam. I have now decided to moderate all comments, but how can I stop the comment spam on those 2 posts? Is there a way?

You could turn off comments entirely for the two posts, or set it so that any posts with more than x links goes into moderation

Askimet will catch most of it. I'd go with that. I have it on one blog... Works great. Other blog gets spammed to heck daily...

I turn off commenting on those two posts, and turn OFF moderation on all the other posts. I think that moderating comments gets in the way of the whole community aspect of blogging. Or set it for first time posters to hit moderation, but once you've approved one of their comments, their comments are no longer moderated.

I use Akismet on all my blogs which lets through very little spam - almost none of it. Don't forget if you're using Wordpress (I expect other platforms might do it too) you can blacklist regular words that are used in spam to help cut it down too.

I wish I had enough commenters to worry about spam

Askimet I use and it works pretty good. Good luck with that.

I also use Akismet. I used to not manage spam at all, then I was informed it was destroying my content, so I decided to moderate every post. This is a very time-consuming and laborious process that I don't recommend.

I finally found Akismet, and have been loving it ever since. There is no better

Default Re: Getting Rid Of Comment Spam

I'll vouch for Akismet as well, and I don't even use Wordpress :P

(P.S. For Drupal, Akismet + Spam Module = Complete Comment Spam Annihilation!)

Quick question, does anybody know any way to Moderate Pingbacks in Drupal? I get mad pingback spam, and that does go through ><
