I think blogger is awesome for any newbie and can be quite profitable for the advanced user if done right. Having said that, nothing compares to what WP can do for your blog.

Utlimately, self-hosted WordPress is not that easy. I've tried explaining FTP to newbies and it's difficult when they're starting out. Also, there is a lot of backend to maintaining a WordPress blog.
Is it worth it for the pride of ownership? Easily. Is it a snap for people who don't know tech? Not necessarily. That said, I would never go back to Blogger. But for the newbie or the person who wants to just produce content, it's a fine option. |

In our country India, when i talk about free blogging with anyone who is very new to blogging, he would just talk about blogger, and if i mention the word Wordpress, he just asks "What's wordpress?" Many still aren't that aware of wordpress. |

Well, I totally agree that Wordpress is really better than Blogger. The only problem with wordpress is that you can't place an adsense.

There are blogs that earn thousands of $$$ per month just through adsense and they run on wordpress lol. |

I actually prefer Blogger. My 'only' complaint about Blogger is not being able to publish post dated material on that day/time....I can only either publish it immediately or save as draft (or set up as email publish, but meh). For that to be my only complaint...something so petty....yeah, I'm happy.
I tried Wordpress once...and meh, it just wasn't that special. I don't want a ton of themes to choose from....I want to completely customize my HTML if I so choose. I don't want to have to purchase through Wordpress to get more options.....I want complete control over my site from the get-go. When I bought my own domain, I stuck with the Blogger platform because it was simple for the most basic of users to use....but when I wanted to get into the nitty gritty stuff, it was easy to get to and get my hands dirty in. |

what I don't like about blogger is that it doesn't save your info when you comment. (I don't use a blogger acct). You have to type it in each time. Very annoying. Most of the other blog platforms save your info. And I don't want to use a blogger account. I want people to just be able to click on my name --one click--and get over to my blog. So I grit my teeth and type in the info. Each time I comment.
I will say blogger is easier for people who can't figure out things like uploading a theme with FTP, and don't want to keep up with Wordpress's constant updates...and updates to the plugins. Wordpress is my platform of choice though.
