Tambo has a spectacular aura about Tambo has a spectacular aura about
Default Sourcing Images

I like to illustrate my blogs (who doesn't).

Where possible, I like to take a photograph myself (albeit crudely)

When this is not possible (or I haven't been bothered) where are some good places to go on the internet for images?
I want to bear in mind the sensitivites of photographers, I don't want to be ripping anyone off and stealing photos.

Not any more anyway.

Your own camera is always the best place to get photos.

I have actually sourced some photos from my university notes (It's hard to find a photo of anthrax) and from flickr. You can use images from flickr if you search using the creatives commons liscence, and I tend to get a good responce from the photographer if I actually ask to use their photo, explain what for etc. I always put a link to the oroginal photo at the bottom of the post too, and most people are happy with this. If they didn't want anyone to use their image, they wouldn't have liscenced it under creative commons.

Just remember to always ask, and always credit.

I use istockphoto.com, it's a paid service, but it's a good one to use.

I use stock.xchng - the leading free stock photography site as well.

Easy to find what I want, and I even didn't bother to register - the preview image is just the right size to be displayed on the net.

This is what I'd recommend; if it's not an original photo (albeit crude and infrequent) I always just go there. You can almost always find something free worth using.

Do you download the image or just link direct to SXC?

I download the images.

I'm going to give those guys credit in one of my future posts. This is a wonderful service.

My average search is just about 3-4 minutes, and I'm all set.
