Sorry if this have been discussed before, I'm a noob here :lurk-2:
I was wondering do you ever think about how many posts are ideally for your index page. I only have one post when I start to blogging and being rejected by PPP because of it But now I have three posts on my index page. The reason is I don't want my blog visitors to wait long time before the blog is finish loading. I hate if I have to wait long, just to drop a card

I had 10 posts on it at one time because at first I only had the most recent and I was told it was better to have more. Eventually I thought 10 was too many, even though the blog loaded fast. Other things slow it down more than number of posts. Now I have 5. Different strokes for different folks as is said.

I have 2 right now just cause don't want to have huge web space for people to have to scroll down to read. I like to just keep 2 up and its always worked good for me.

It depends all the length of posts. My posts for example are two-three pages long (over 1000 words), each covering different topic so I could never put those to one page in usability and SEO purposes. In my oppinion, PayPerPost is stupid arrogant liers who even took right to accuse me that Im not writing my articles???

I usually like to keep it under 3-4 posts unless you want to see summaries only.

Right now I have 6 posts on the main page of my blog. Since starting the blog, I've been ratcheting the number of posts down on the main page, and increasing the number of characters the "teaser" displays.
I'm thinking with all the traffic I get through entrecard, etc I dont want my readers to have to click again to read a post to determine if its worth reading. I want to give them as much of a read as possible, but not quite give away the whole story. The reason I do that is so I can see if they click into the post to finish reading it. This allows me to do some analytics on which posts are the most interesting. Tim |

Because of this thread, I reduced my front page from 5 posts to 3 posts. Of course, I'm so OCD about numbers I had to change the recent posts list to 6 (from 5) and recent comments to 6 (from 5) and the feed to 9 (from 10) because of the 'three' thing...don't ask.
