On my 'good' blogs, I post any time there is something new to say. I try not to post daily just for the sake of having stuff out there. If it doesn't add value to my viewers, I don't post it. (The good blogs are related to my World of Warcraft hobby.)
My 'junk' blog I use to capture searches for hot keywords. It works in bursts...find out a hot topic of the moment, write an article about it, or even copy much of what someone else has, do some quick marketing (ie: social bookmarking) to get the link indexed, and profit in the very short-term. I do that whenever I'm bored and want to make a few bucks in a few minutes. |

I tend to post everyday.. .or at least as often as I can.
In order to keep the readers coming back, you have to make sure you update several times a week! Quality content is key. |

I don't have a routine, some days I blog, others I don't. I always check my emails though on a daily basis.

I try to post every day, but my class schedule keeps me very busy so I tend to post late at night. I generally procrastinate for several hours before finally forcing myself to sit down and write something.
Posting every day is not necessary, especially if you can't find good content, but it is certainly desirable, not just to maintain readership, but because the only way to improve writing is to write. If it's truly awful, I won't post it, but I try my damnedest. |

A good post to read is this one:
30 Day Blogging Challenge Realistically most of what we do on a daily basis is just habit. Things that are well oiled habits feel easy; things that aren't don't. Imagine if one GOOD bloggery a day was part of your routine?

I blog hop in the mornings with my coffee. As I find new blogs I enjoy I add them to my feed reader in a folder called daily blog hop. I try to post daily on my personal blog. It has photos most days, so I also try and sit down once a week and size the photos for the blog. Then they are ready for when I write the posts.
I also write twice a week for another blog about how to blog for writers. I try and write those blog posts up in advance and set them to post on my assigned day. Back up once a day and have it sent to Gmail. Try and keep up with Wordpress updates and plugin updates. I'm always tweaking my blog, adding plugins, or adjusting this or that. |

I am going to take a look into wp-db-backup. I think that backing up your website is an important part of your routine. I currently have my entire site backed up daily to an FTP repository, and that is definitely a good thing.
For my daily routine, I like to comment on other blogs and think up some creative writing projects for the future.

I read a blog post from someone (cannot remember who) where they said the get up at 6am and blog between then and 8am to avoid distraction and then can spend the rest of the day not thinking that they should be writing! I presonally find I can write better after the kids have gone to bed and I can relax ;o)
