Page rank question

Hi,

I have to be misunderstanding something. I would appreciate any advice that you would care to offer.

I used a free service to check my page rank. It came up zero. It also detailed how many links I have to my site. Google claimed that there were none. I know for a fact that's not true. I've visited the sites that link to mine. I also check my stats daily and I see what referells I'm getting and from where.

What am I missing? And what can I do to increase my page rank?

Google takes a while to update the backlink count you could instead use this

Yahoo! Site Explorer

The ranking assigned out of 10 based on certain parameters by Google. Usually this figure is
derived by calculating the quality (PR) and the number of backlink a website has.

So to increase your PageRank you have to get more quality (PR) backlinks

An easy way to start is by submitting to various free web directories

Not every free tool returns reliable numbers. I like to use DigPageRank.com, which shows page rank across multiple data centers. My Internet connection is a bit wonky right now, so I cannot access the tool to check if your site is actually PR 0.

Google is notorious for not reporting all your backlinks. Trust your web stats, and keep building links.

I've been through two PR updates with LagORama, and this tool has accurately predicted my PR both times.

type in site:www.yoursite.com into google and into yahoo as Kivinar said.

You will normally have many more backlinks from Yahoo then Google.

I checked out your site and it has no page rank yet.. I think you have to wait until the next update to get one.
