Can someone help explain Entrecard?

I keep seeing this, and I know it's a good idea, but I have no idea why or how to begin using this tool. Can someone talk to me like I'm a 3 year old about this one?

Entrecard allows you to advertise on other people's entrecard widget if you let them advertise on yours.

You install the widget somehwere on your blog (copy and paste basically). You then appear in entrecard and lots of people ocme to your blog and dop their cards onto your widget, so that you can see they were there and go drop a card back on them.

Some will try to advertise on your widget, but you will have to approve them. This way you can select those that are prettiest, match your color scheme, or are most relevant.

To advertise on someone else's widget, in Entrecard they have an 'advertise' button under their card if they have a spot open. Click it, and hope they accept.

Just to add to what Ferox is saying, it's basically advertising on other peoples' blogs and you pay with "entrecard credits" rather than money. The more credits you have, the more you'll be able to spend on advertising...

and you get credits by 'dropping your card at other people's blogs (going to their blog and clicking the widget) or by having them come to your blog and click on yours.

AND you also get credits for people clicking on your ad displayed on other peoples blogs...

I would recommend it. I have gained a few regular readers from it. It gives you a chance to find new blogs that you may not have found if it weren't for Entrecard.

It is a good way to get your "brand" in front of other bloggers. The best part about it is that it is free advertising!

Yes, I agree with MarketLeverage, I have gained a lot of new blogger friends as well as discovered great blogs I have never seen before.

I just don't like the fact that some people abuse the system and just drop, drop, drop and forget what the point of all of it is about...

I absolutely love it. I'm addicted to it as well. Great way to get credits is by just going from blog to blog dropping card and clicking on their advertiser.

I"ve definitely seen some new faces here due to it; only regret is I didn't sign up earlier!

Thank you for the overview of Entrecard. I have been trying to figure out how it works since I heard about it a few weeks ago. I have just created an Entrecard for myself.
