Interesting stuff i have started to bear this kind of thing in mind recently especially how many results/sponsored results show up for any given search and variations.

a couple o months ago i did a series of posts about creating mini sites, and one of the aspects i menitoned was keyword research like netvestor blog wrote, but in a more detailed post:
Creating mini sites - Part 2 - Keyword Research | Blog dahh net!

but, as many of us, like to have the job effortless, there is a great way to check if the competition and searches/day are compatible to our criteria or not.
I explain how to do this easyly in this post:
Creating Mini sites - Part 3 - GTrends made easy | Blog dahh net!

hope you find them usefull

Default KEI

I'm great at beefing up articles but when it comes to learning FACTS you want straight to the point which I find that blog delivers big in.

KEI was dreamed up by a SEO named Sumatra Roy - now KEI is looked down on by SEO's

SEO's use specific desktop software programs or monthly subscription online services

What SEO's look for are:
good monthly search volume
"buyer" search phrases
low "exact search" competition
low number of backlinks required for top ranking
high CPC value
few top ranked sites using search phrase in page title
top ranked sites are generic sites like amazon, ebay, etc.

PS. wordtracker is no longer taken seriously by SEO's

Question keyword harvesting the social network sites

Netvestor: How to find low competition keywords

Any thoughts?

I just read something yesterday on keyword research - not figured out how to do it so somebody here may be able to help

what I read was basically:
find search phrases used on social networking sites - as google now takes social networking sites as being extremely relevant regarding search and content

the second step is, once you've found all the relevant search phrases from social network sites, you build content on your own site related to those search phrases - then google will love your site

I like the logic, but suspect the product launch will be a big ticket event - this guy's stuff is always expensive - so I'm looking a low cost method of keyword harvesting the social network sites

Default social networking phrases - more

Just want to point out that the example single word search phrase he gave produced a list of search phrases I've never seen before

Coincidentaly the example single word search phrase given was the prime phrase for my biggest traffic site - so I know he's on to something, as I haven't seen some of the phrases he found in 4 years of keyword researching
