Why bounce rate over 50% isn't a good thing? I have articles in my blog for particular topic so I expect visitor to read that article only. Good, if then he finds some affiliate program I have ads to click on or some other useful link from my article to check those out. But I do not expect him or her to read every article I have written?

I think it depends on how you have set out your blog.

For most of my postsI have it split in two: they see one or two paragraphs as a summary on the first page, and then a 'read more' button to read the rest of the entry. If most of my visitors are bouncing, then they're not reading the entry.

Question to ferox: Why visitors are landing in your home page? At least when I'm searching I usually land on specific article page. Same is if I had commented some other blog or post I usually link to my article not to my homepage. I think there is no such thing as homepage anymore in blogs as each article or page can be homepage. Homepage is relevant only when you type URL which also can be redirected to specific page as any domain name.
That's how Internet worked before web designers and should work today in Web 2.0.

Why would one not want to use Google Analytics? I've been using it since my WordPress.com Stats went all wonky on me.

I'll chime in with the others...a statement like that needs some solid references to back it up. Sure, there have always been the rumors that the more info Google has on your online activities, the worse off you are (especially in relation to multiple websites in the same niche), but I have yet to see any solid evidence of that.

Problogger has a lot of posts on making your blog 'sticky' - ie., giving readers reason to stay around. Putting related posts, most popular posts, and in-context links to other parts of your blog will keep readers around for a little longer, thereby lowering your bounce rate.
