ok, I am kinda brainstorming as I write this, so let me know if you think this is a silly idea.
My idea is to completely redesign both of my blogs, both with the same 'general layout' just different colors and graphics so you can tell them apart, but at the same time, maybe building a 'brand', maybe a shared logo in the about section (see caffeine-overload - the about section on the index page would introduce me, have a shared 'brand' logo and link to other blogs in my 'network') Each site would have it's own logo, professionally designed and a extremely modified template to work perfect for me, as you can see from Confessions of a housewife - working from home and cleaning - it looks nothing like the template used- Brajeshwar Theme) This would allow for more blogs as I go, keeping them under an 'unbrella' brand to help people when surfing know when they hit a blog of mine and build some recognition and such. This would be a major undertaking, because I know what I want it to look like, but doing it is gonna take a few weeks. I kinda like it... what do yall think?? Thanks for hearing me out! |

Good Idea, and I think you should do it! We are in the middle of a branding change, and keeping everything under one umbrella from the get go would have made the job much easier!

That's funny, there must really be a collective consiousness!
Just this morning I had the very same thought, maybe I should try and "brand" all my blogs and work on creating just one strong presense, instead of a gazillion smaller ones. (I don't have a gazillion blogs yet, but I might someday!) It would also make it easier trying to decide which blogs to put in my sigs! To answer your question... I think it is a fabulous idea. I have a few other projects on deck right now but I think this may be my next project.

thanks yall! and minty, I like that idea, maybe have a certain aspect of the logo on both sites be the same with small differences like color and site name....
I am thinking about when I finish this project I will seek out bloggers to blog in 'sub' blogs, under my 'brand' lots of research needed for that one though, on how to monetize for both the writer and myself. What I mean is make more blogs under my 'new brand' and find a blogger to run it, like if they got a wordpress blog, everything would be taken care of aside from writing posts. but that is way in the future! |

Maybe same logo with different writing underneath? I think Minty may have a good idea here.

here is a little more of my idea- what do you think so far? I am, still about a month or so out from taking bloggers and trying to iron out the details in my head...
I plan on being in charge of domain names and hosting, as well as the template and logo design of each blog, as well as advertising sales (in the sidebar and such) Each blog would have a custom theme with a professional logo and will look very professional, and catchy. (lots of work but worth it) The income model I have thought of so far is you (as the blogger) would get to write whatever you want on the topic we choose together, you can add it to pay per post when it is old enough, sponsored reviews, use affiliate links, etc, any income you want to do 'in post' goes 100% to you. Essentially it will be 'your blog' you just wont have to worry about the design, logo or advertising sales in places other than the posts themselves. We would split the sidebar advertising on your blog 50/50, so if an advert wants to pay 50 a month on the sidebar, you get 25 a month. I would work on advertising the network and individual blogs on the network, and you would also have some responsibility to do some marketing of your own blog too, be it leaving comments on other blogs, the entrecard, etc. as far as posting requirements I think 3 posts a week min would be a good start. When we begin talking we will come up with a topic you like to write about and a domain name for your new blog. I am planning on having about 5 blogs to start, my 2, my husband is starting one on computer tech support, and two other bloggers on a topic we come up with. What do ya think? Would you join that network if that is how I set it up? What would you change? Thanks for any advice and opinions. :-) |

If your sites are similar or if you make one logo and place it on each site/blog, visitors will be able to recognize your "brand".
You could make a unique logo for each site in addition to the uniform logo for all of your sites.
