What do you all think of this off the wordpress help..this is from wordpress.com - I did have my domain that I purchased being re-directed to the wordpress free original blog, when it was an empty domain, now the old address at wordpress.com is re-directing to the new blog domain - what do you think of the following ?

Paul,
Thank you for the input - I did have it re-direct it is in the console of wordpress dot com. I am not quite sure how to handle this regarding duplicate content, it's all so new to me. Time will tell I suppose.. |

I agree with Paul. You have to definitely be careful when doing something like this. I'm pretty sure as well that there'll be a duplicate content issue in the search engines. Especially Google. If they slap you for having duplicate content, you may actually lose Page Rank.

What would be the best thing to do than? Just leave the wordpress dot com site up and put a post directing them to the new one?
Eliminate the posts that are on the new site that are on the old? |

The above quote came right off the wordpress FAQ's thats why I thought it may be okay.. but I will respect any advice given here..

That is what I am worried about the duplicate content. It is an exact replica -the old blog is re-directing to the new one with in the wordpress.com dashboard. I have removed the verification in the old blog for Google.
