I've tried some plugins but wasn't happy with them so I just added the adsense code to my template. The disadvantage of this is that I'll have to add the code to the template if I chage the template or the code.

AdSense Deluxe plugin to place ads within posts. Other than that it is very easy to add AdSense to the sidebar or the link above (Adding Adsense to Wordpress) to blend them into your theme.
