Was just wondering what other people use as a guide to see how well their blog is doing? Do you use things like google/alexa rank, amount of subscribers to judge how well your blog is doing. |

I think that is a great question. As to the google rank/alexa rank - I watch those (moreso my page's google page rank, which goes up and down) but I don't find those to be the answer about whether a blog is successful. I have even seen some blogs with a low PR, yet it appears it has a devoted readership. My PR is only a 3 right now, and I would like to get to a 5 or 6 someday, but I guess that's mostly wishful thinking. I definitely look at my "absolute unique visitors" and "page views" which come from Google Analytics, and hope for upward trends. Once in a while, it's two steps forward and one step back. I remember when I got to the point of averaging like 500 or 600 uniques a day, I felt like I had really become "successful" though now I am past that. I think most of all, more than any of the above numbers, I look at the conversations in the comments. To have created some sense of community in the readership means a lot to me. That's better than any PR or absolute uniques number.

How well you are doing depends on how well your readers are engaged with your content. The best three parameters according to me are-(this does not include the amount of traffic because that depends on how popular your blog topic/theme is) 1.Number of pageviews per unique visit 2.Low Bounce rate 3.Number of comments made 4.Search engine ranking 5.Increase in traffic over a period of time Google analytic and webmaster tools are best methods to track them... |

I am measuring my blog's success by the following criteria: 1. How I feel the quality of my posts are 2. Number of females wishing to hook up 3. Page Views (in a few months PR) 4. Comments So far, my blog has failed in all categories |

For me an slightly ambiguous question. It really depends what your goals are. If they are for 10 visits per day, or 5 comments per day, or earning $20 per day through your blog, then if you hit these then your doing well. The benefit being is that you constantly take the next step up and aim higher

I donīt measure my blog in any way. I just write stuff that I think is interesting and I would want to read on a blog. If other people like that as well, then cool! mission accomplished

As most I measure blog success by the revenue it generates.

I measure by time on site and bounce rate metrics. A couple of my posts have been doing well in search engines, but search engine visitors aren't blog readers... so pageviews isn't a good way for me to measure.

I don't really bother with caring about how my blog is doing I more care about how much fun I'm having doing it
