I'm very new to the whole blogging concept and really don't understand RSS feed - what it is, how it works, etc. It's particularly confusing when a directory asks for my RSS feed, as I don't know what to put in the box. I"m not even sure if hte RSS feed works on the blog, I"ve tried clicking it a few times and it takes me to a page that doesn't load. Can anyone help me out or explain a few things?

| Ferox: I have written a step-by-step guide to RSS a while ago. Perhaps you'd like to read it and see if it helps you in understanding RSS?

| PaulR: No problem! I had problems understand the concept of RSS too when I first read about it. That's why I made a note to write a simpler version to beneit new bloggers |

Thanks, I think I understand it better now. I'm not sure if my RSS feed works, but that might be because I'm not registered with a feedreader or something.

| Ferox: Your RSS feed works, I have just subscribed to it ![]() So perhaps the next thing you should do is to plaster a standard-looking RSS button on your page (yes, I am implying that the gray RSS button on your footer isn't visible enough, LOL) |

Ah, ok. It's the standard one with the template. I will try making or finding a more suited one

| Ferox: I didn't mean that the RSS button on your blog was not nice, I hope I didn't give you that impression! What I meant was having the orange-coloured standard RSS button plastered on the top portion of your blog would encourage more people to subscribe, that's all. And if you're looking for some RSS buttons, here are some sites where you can download and use them for FREE (I use some of these too): (1) Free Glass Style RSS/Feed Icons | BittBox (2) Feed Icons - Home of the Standard Web Feed Icon Have fun! |

No, I meant It was the standard one in the template, so I thought it was a standard type of RSS button. I've changed them all now to a green one that I think is fairly standard.
