What did the holidays do to your traffic?

I'm not a chronic stat checker like a lot of you, but I do have an alert set up so that if my traffic changes for the better or worse by a large chunk, I get an email. I knew the holidays would affect it, just like every other year, but check it out:



And that's from a cooking blog, so it's one of the few topics that people -are- searching for over the holidays....last minute gifts and last minute recipes, ha.

My traffic has gone down during the holidays this year. I don't know whether people who are looking for student advice or free lesson plans are on vacation, not buying things, or what.

I think traffic will go up after January 1st. On other holidays, usually I find for my blogs and sites, traffic does go down then. When I finally build my blogs up for more traffic, I will be able to have less traffic and still do well. ;-)

Pageviews have stayed relatively stable on my blogs, but comments have been pretty low.

I only started my blog on the 20th of this month but i have noticed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day the views to my blog went down. But i suppose it's to be expected really

My blogs are getting more traffic now. But part of this may be that I am posting more often. I also find that readership improves during the week, not on the weekend generally.

I would LOVE to have more comments. I need to work on that, maybe a better call to action than "Leave a comment" or "Share your opinions about - - - -" (whatever.)

The holidays always wipe out my traffic.
It goes from something significant to virtually nothing.

The summer holidays are pretty bad too, but not as bad as Christmas. A lot of my traffic comes from students who visit from searches, forum participation, etc. When school is out, students are not online, so my traffic plummets.

My traffic also goes down on the weekend usually. Of course, it all depends, but I have yet to figure out why, except sometimes I think that most people are off work and mostly doing other things maybe?

Most of my weekly traffic seems to be in the middle of the week.

Surprisingly my stats did not go down. They stayed about the same but I also posted a Holiday post and then social networked it like crazy. Many of my followers have smart phones and must have been checking it at Christmas dinner.
