Most of my blog is going to be completely tame. Pictures from vacations, pictures from car shows, that sort of thing. But occasionally we take a vacation to something like Fantasy Fest (Halloween in Key West) where a lot of costumes are just body paint or expose more than is usually seen. I also will have a section of my blog for my own artwork which again will be mostly very tame but will also have some body painting. So my question is should I flip the "Adult" switch in the Blogger prefs or should I simply have a warning before clicking through to posts that might have adult content? Blog is ~ Shallow Leisure ~ - the first set of stories - "FantaSea 2011" are a good example of what I'm talking about. Thanks in advance for your opinion or sharing any experience you have in this area. |

The body paint isn't a problem really. I mean to me, I see it as still covered, in that round about way - if nothing else. But maybe weed out the more, graphic (For lack of a better word) post with special tags, and place a warning at the top, and make it big enough that it is obvious, visible, and draws the eye away from the actual post material.

I appreciate that advice, but I can't assume the body painting would be okay with everyone. Even I wouldn't want those pictures on my computer at work.

I'll ask a more generic question. Hopefully it'll gather more answers. If you surf to a blog and the blogspot "Adult Content" dialog pops up, are you likely to turn away at that point or will you click Okay and continue to the site? Do you assume the worst or best? |

Bleh, I just typed out a fair bit and then a forum glitch caused me to lose it. Oops. Short version: Ups and downs to both. You'll lose some potential traffic but you'll avoid much of the risk of possibly offending people with the pictures you do post that aren't PG. Honestly, if you only occasionally post iffy content and the wildest of that is body painting, art, etc, I'd leave the warning off. Just add NSFW in the possibly inappropriate posts, and use a page jump to only show a snippet and then the reader has to "click here to see the rest of the post" or whatever. In Blogger, you can do this by clicking "insert jump break"....it's the little icon to the left of the alignment option and looks like an itty bitty torn page. (And yes, I've seen you use that, so it's more for those future viewers who don't know how to do it and can learn from the thread, too).
