Blogging Challenge... Is that allowed?

I'm thinking about offering a challenge to an amateur blogger (like myself) or (EDIT:- maybe not an amateur since looking for an amateur only will be hard), It will be like Bloggeries be the host, and we choose a category we both agree on, and we begin blogging for a certain while, and then we open a poll and ask for votes, Is this thing allowed? (I thought it may increase my blogging skills, and I love challenges, and also it will help me since I've been thinking for a whole week for a good category and i can't think about any)

Edit:- Or maybe instead of a poll, some judges may choose the best... (That may sound stupid, but i think it's fun)

I will try to make it as easy as possible...

- I keep looking for someone who's up to the challenge (anyone, since maybe it will hard to search just for amateurs)
- Then we discuss the category we want to blog about for the challenge (e.g. Pet Blogs)
- Then we identify the amount of time we will keep on going with this challenge (e.g. a month)
- We choose how we will decide the winner (e.g. Poll, Pick Judges, or our own opinions... but I will always mine is better :P)
- Each one begins a new blog (or add to his old blog if he had, but only blogs from the begin of the challenge counts)
- After the specified time ends, we do the way we decided on choosing the winner, and see who won

In my opinion:-
* That will be fun
* That kind of challenges will make both of us more into blogging
* It will increase our blogging skills (especially if the other one is still new too)

Challenges and contests of any kind are a good idea if you promote them properly and give good incentive to participate. I ran a contest here to spread the word and didn't get much turnout but all I did was make a post and than let it ride. Plan Plan Plan before you start anything but it could definitely be a good idea to get the word out about your blog and have some fun.

This sounds like a great way to get a niche blog jump started. I personally don't have time right now to participate, but it does sound like fun.

Well since I like the idea, and it's allowed, and some people said it's good, I'm going to post an official post about my announcing a challenge...with more information...
