Why would you hate my blog?

What is the first thing that makes you close the tab of a blog that you have opened, has you shuddering in horror?

Is it the style and design? The content and writing? A misleading header?

Conversly, what has you coming back for more? Signing up as a follower? Commenting and engaging with the blogger? What makes you read one post and decide to check out more on the blog?

See, these are my problems. I don't have many followers. There aren't too many people that comment, even though, when they do, I always respond to them. I've not received any feedback via email, even though I've added a link.

I know about good content. I've tried to make the page as user friendly as possible. I like to think that I offer a bit of variety - some humour, some thought provoking stuff, some photos - even if it means that my posts lack consistency? Is consistency important?

You don't have to answer all of these questions but some insight to even one or two of them would be great. Thanks fellow bloggers!

Well, I've had some good thoughts about that matter. I tend to follow or "like" on facebook two kind of blogs : very professional blogs like Engadget for instance, or weirdly enough, some very personal blogs made by people who seem to be consistent in their posts quality even though their design and their blog in general are not that good or nice looking or whatever else a "good blog" would look like. i suppose I follow them for two reasons : because i want to support them, and because i kind of hope they could come up with something that personal that i wouldnt have seen already somewhere else.

The blog itself is actually not really well made, but I enjoy reading his articles and looking at those nice pictures. (the blog is in french but im sure you get the point, no social icons, no fancy design, huge pictures, more than likely a crappy html code, etc...)

Indeed, I love to follow very personal blogs with creative content with a design not so good, but when it comes to news in general, I'd rather go for a very famous blog.
There are no blogs are "hate", I reckon there are only blogs with lack of content; design is just a little "plus".

Thanks for the feedback fellow Blogger-In-Training. I checked out the personal blog you recommended and it was interesting, especially for someone who has recently become (or rather, is slowly becoming) Francophone.

With regards to the consistency bit, I suppose I meant consistency in terms of what can be expected re subject matter rather than the quality. Obviously, I try to consistently post quality content, it is more a matter of it sometimes being very light-hearted/humorous, sometimes a little more serious and thought provoking, sometimes more along the lines of "this is where I explored today..."

I was concerned that perhaps my readers will prefer one style to the others and therefore check out when I post something a little diferent.

I didn't hate it but I found it quite hard to read with the white text on a dark background and the semi transparent graphic showing through the text so I didn't read much.
