Hello hubert, Are you saying that most people don’t have that much interest to stay long in your website? And one good answer to that is what you just said – it loads really slowly. So what I’m going to share to you are the ways to that you can try in order to make your website most favorable for search engines. You can look into four basic aspects: 1. Friendly Navigation and Functionality around your website 2. Content Optimization 3. Website Design in Relation to Marketing Elements 4. Technical Aspects of your Website Design But let us just focus on number 4, that's more related to your concern – loading time is really slow (plus more inputs on SEO-friendly web design). I honestly believe that it’s the number one discouragement for your prospect readers to stay long – resulting to a high bounce rate. So here’s my suggestion: • What the SEO expert mentioned was right; it is not advisable to use heavy Flash for your website, if you really want to optimize it for search engines. Instead you may use JavaScript and jquery plugins to get similar results. • It’s also best if you limit the use of Ajax, specifically for navigation. Ajax content tends to load vigorously thus making it not indexable by search engines. • You should also think about your website’s design standard screen resolution. Normally, web designers would make the design for 1024×768 screens. And you can do some trial and error on this by using your analytics (e.g. Google analytics) and see which screen resolution your readers prefer, base from their frequent visits. • In using images, make sure it consists of Alt Attributes. In other words, you can constantly describe your image on the alt attribute, for the purpose of SEO. • Don’t use Splash page by the way, it defeats the purpose of what you really want – getting high visibility for search engines. Furthermore, I would greatly encourage you to take some time in getting additional information through studying and applying what you’ve learned. Google is our friend as many would say so type in through the search engine field and read on the info. I personally do that even though it’s really boring, at times. Making all this will certainly be a challenge but if you’ve really invested pure hard work on it, I’m pretty positive that in time, everything will pay off. You’ll be able to “reap the fruits of your labor”. Good luck! Cheers! |
