How important is the domain name of a blog. With so much traffic through search engines and bookmarking, I cant even remember the last time I typed an URL. I type parts of URLs sometimes, but theyre autocompleted for me. I usually try to name my posts something catchy or use common phrases, etc, but the domain for my humor blog, worldsmostevilblog.blogspot.com, doesnt exactly roll off the tongue. Do you think this is a huge problem? |

I don't think that the domain name really matters that much. As you said people don't normally type in urls any more they just click links or they pop up in search results and get added to favourates. That being said you should try to have a word or 2 related to your topic in your blog name. However since your a .blogspot.com it's probably not that big of a deal for you.

The domain name does matter for Google searches though, you should always have a domain that has something to do with the topic of your site. Unless you've got enough of an advertising budget to make up some random name like 'digg' or 'groupon' and become a brand. Have you thought about spending ~10 bucks and using your own domain with your Blogger blog? |
