I Love Life is on a distinguished road
Default Blogging on an iPhone

Hello

I hate using personal computers. For the first 16 years of my life, the PC was my heart and soul, but then I went outside.

Now I exclusively use an iPhone for all my computing needs and I want to start a blog because I have a lot of things I want to say. So I wondered if any of you have much experience updating your blogs on mobile devices and what you think the best apps and hosts are for this.

It's not so much a blog to make money, it's more about just getting myself 'out there,' although any profit I could make would of course be welcome.

So my basic needs are:

- Creating a blog
- Choosing a template design
- Creating sections / pages for different categories of post
- Posting text, photos and videos
- A comments section
- Monitoring how many views I get

So, to what extent is this possible?

I can certainly see a place for using your Iphone to blog, if your going to keep your blog post short. I could see it working well. If you are going to write a massive 2000 word post, I think you'd be way better off using your PC.

Mobile devices aren't suited for blogging at the moment. Their keyboards arrangements are made to fit the screen, not your hands.

Now if you are seriously so distraught with using a desktop or laptop device to blog, my suggestion is that you do not blog.

Both WordPress, Blogger, and Tumblr have mobile applications available, but they're either for checking comments quickly or reading blogs that you follow. While all 3 applications do allow you to post on the go, that doesn't mean you should.

Often times, posts from mobile devices will be crummy even if you put your heart and soul into the post and spent days constructing it. The device's spellcheck will change words around without alerting you, the keys will strain your fingers, and the likes.

Because you're so quick to dismiss personal computers because of some childish angst towards them that accumulated when you were around 16, I believe you should purchase a netbook if you're so set upon blogging on the go.

Netbooks usually have a keyboard that's ~80% normal size and more than enough processing power to do anything from simple word processing to online streaming videos.

If you are set on using your iPhone to blog, I would recommend using the Wordpress App. Assuming you are using the WordPress platform.
