Default Trackback help..

I've seen the term thrown around, but I have no idea what it's all about, and I feel like I'm missing out on something important.

Can someone explain exactly what a trackback is, how to properly use it, and how it helps generate traffic? Thanks!

Default What is a Trackback on my Blog? How does a Trackback Work?

Hi Cartman,

Great question. I was relatively sure but I double checked anyways and it confirmed what I thought.

"In layman’s terms, trackback is a way to notify a website when you publish an entry that references it."

This is a quote from this useful blog which explains how a trackback works.

I trust this helps and thanks for asking I now have a better understanding of them myself.

Rob

Technocrati is the one that does those trackbacks? How many of such blog directories/search engines does the same thing?

I'm sorry I really am a noob.

When I reply to a post I have the option of "Send trackbacks to" and inserting one or more URLs. What URLs should I put in there? The site I'm looking at, my own site, or something else entirely?

Sorry to be so dim but I couldn't find the answer in the FAQ.
