As some of you may know, I'm not the most serious person around. In fact, I'm quite the opposite. But, I was wondering if my blog profile picture should be professional looking, or if it should reflect my true personality. Also, is it a bad idea for me to have my profile picture be of a couple friends and me? In this picture, I'm just messing around with a couple friends, but I think it displays my personality pretty well. Although, some could see it as being too casual. Would it be bad for me to use it as a blogger profile picture? ![]() This was the picture I used before I switched to the one shown above. It is not professional in any way whatsoever, considering I have paint on my face. But, it also displays me as quite a free spirit. ![]() ![]() So, any input? What do you have to say about the situation? Is having friends in my profile picture too casual? Does my lack of having a professional picture discourage people from viewing my blog? If your blog is casual, free-spirited, etc, then it's okay for your picture to display that as well. You can make it more professional by classing up the background. For example, both pictures are candid shots from the home or classroom. You could have the same face paint, funny poses with friends, etc, but have a blank background, more centered, cleaned up, etc.

Alright, thank you! Now that I think about it, I don't think I have any pictures of myself with a plain background behind me. I'll keep that in mind, and next time I'm in a picture-taking mood, I'll look for something solid to stand against! |

There ya go! It doesn't have to be anything fancy either. Toss up a sheet or grab a blank wall. Or hey, get creative with some Photoshop skills even.

Woah. Photoshop? I'm still learning how to effectively use paint! I think I'll just stick with the sheet or blank wall idea! |

Go with whatever represents both you and your blog's personality. If you are a business blogger, people probably don't want to see you doing a keg stand half naked, but if your blog is somehow related to partying (hehe), then I would guess that would be appropriate.
