We own all our pictures in our travel blog but I'm kinda lazy to do this. I've tried it multiple times but it makes the picture look ugly. Do you think it's really that important? |

It *is* important, but I'm really bad about doing it, too. I want to do it because I've seen my pictures copied and put on other sites as though they're someone else's, but given how I currently do my picture uploading and blogging, it's kind of a pain to watermark everything. If you use something like Windows Live Writer and upload your pictures directly through there, it really simplifies the process and will put it there automatically. To avoid it looking ugly, try playing around with colors and fonts.....something white or almost see-through usually helps minimize the ugliness.

Yeah to start all over and watermark everything is really annoying. I think when we post pictures on the internet, it means we already share it to the world. Some pictures I wouldn't mind people copying from me as some are not so good. But then I think watermarking is still important, maybe on some pictures that we don't wanna get stolen from us. |

Yeah there are free watermarking softwares out there but have limitations, like you can't watermark batch photos. I just tried in Photoshop but it always ended up very ugly, or when the pic is resized. I'm just not really satisfied with my watermarking, maybe I'm just not really good at it. Anyway try these free watermarking softwares: 1. Alamoon Watermark 2. TSR Watermark Image software 3. WatermarkLib 4. uMark Lite – Image Watermarking Software 5. Kigo Image Converter Tried some but still I'm not satisfied haha. Well sigh, maybe I should not put anymore....

most of my images tend to be watermarked or labelled anyway to where they go, tend to go by the 'image is nothing without annotation' saying rather than the 'a picture paints a 1000 words' depending on the context of course.

The problem with watermarks is that they need to be in the center of the pic to be effective or they can just be cropped out if they are in a corner or near an edge. I always use a reduced quality web image and never upload the orginal. That way you can prove the pic is yours since you have the original.
