How to start a new blog?

I would like to start a blog about fashion and lifestyle, but I haven't much experience... Any advise?

Hi Evelyn,

The best thing about blogging is that you do not need any experience at all. It is very easy to set yourself up with a free blog ... google up either Wordpress or Blogger since those are the 2 leading blogging platforms.

After that it takes about 5 minutes to create and setup your blog and then you are ready to start posting.

Each blog post does not need to be large. Plus you always have the option to go back and edit it, add more, add pictures or just delete it if you don't like it later.

Once you have got a few posts email the link out to your friends and go from there.

I am using blogger for blogging. It is easier than wordpress. But wordpress is advance than blogger. If you a newbie, I think it is better to start with blogger. Make sure you follow fashion web sites and magazines and post up relevant material. Don't just repost stuff, but take what they have an elaborate on what you like. Make it personal. Give people a reason to visit your blog instead of someone else's

Fashion and lifestyle is a good topic, it's easy to handle, especially if you have your special taste, what you need to do is share your experience and ideas, and if you can post some pictures, it will be much better. Good luck!

"Fashion and lifestyle" is very crunchy topic... So, if you're really interested in that topic then go ahead and do some research:

How to Do a Research on that Topic?
Search for blogs related to "fashion and lifestyle" .. I'm sure, you'll get a lot of them. And subscribe them through RSS feed, email Subscription or if you're active over Twitter then go for tweet stream (follow them on twitter).

Benefit: If you can collect 100's of same related blogs then you've made your blogging base stronger because the continuous flow of related news from different source can keep your blog alive .i.e. you can receive a smooth flow of content ideas.

The smooth flow of news from different sources can also keep you away from writer's block.

Research:
1. Make yourself Expertise on that subject by reading lots of reading materials related that topic.
2. Now study, the writing style of the popular blogs and even try to copy their style..

If you've have got all the ideas of that topic and made yourself little bit expert.. then you decide whether you'll run an own-hosted blog or a free hosted blog?
If you're going for own-hosted the go for wordpress.org or if you'r thinking to go for free hosted blog then go for blogger.com ..

First and foremost, buy a good domain name. Install Wordpress. Start posting, do it consistently.
